Revised
website and nomenclature
For
many years AFFINITI Research Products Ltd and since 1st
January 2004 now BIOMOL International LP has maintained
a dedicated website/portal for those interested in ubiquitin-proteasome-COP9
signalosome research, namely www.proteasome.com.
The purpose of this dedicated site was to provide users
with the most up-to-date product information,
nomenclature and technical data, information concerning
potential meetings of interest, etc.
Over recent months this dedicated
website has been redesigned and is now launched.
It still has the full breadth and depth of information
contained within the previous site but is now fully
integrated with the www.biomol.com
website. This integration facilitates online
customer and technical support as well as e-commerce
possibilities for all our US and UK-based customers.
Visitors to the site may notice
the use of two 'new' names, namely 'ubiquitons'
and 'zomes'. Over recent years it has
become increasingly difficult to find general terms
capable of succinctly describing areas that are becoming
increasingly broad. This applies to 'ubiquitin and
ubiquitin-like proteins and their associated cascades' -
now coming under the 'ubiquiton'
classification. Similarly 'zomes' is used
to categorise the increasing number of multi-subunit,
multi-catalytic complexes such as the 11S/PA28, PA200,
19S/PA700, 20S, 26S of proteasomal origin, the COP9
signalosome, the eIF3 complex, the TPPII complex, etc.
